Svenska klädföretaget Whyred har gått från att vara ett litet “källarföretag” till att bli en internationell succé på bara några år. Whyred grundades 1998 av Roland Hjort, Jonas Clason och Lena Patriksson-Keller (Lena är förövrigt även kvinnan bakom creddiga PR-byrån Patriksson Communication). Framförallt ville trion skapa kläder som var enkla, välsittande, tidlösa och moderna. Roland Hjort som är huvuddesigner fick en rad utmärkleser redan efter första kollektionen 1999, succén beror troligtvis på de välskräddade, enkla och okomplicerade plaggen som faller ack så många i smaken. Namnet Whyred har en egen skojig liten historia, Roland Hjort är släkt med den kända och hyllade konstnären Sven X:et Erixon och enligt historien ska Sven ha blivit intervjuad på engelska när han blev tillfrågad vilken som var hans favoritfärg, Sven svarade – red, varav han fick motfrågan - Why Red? Då svarade Sven – Well blue then. Därav namnet Why red som är så passande för Whyreds filosofi. Kläder liksom konst kan aldrig bli endimensionella, det krävs fler färger än en för att skapa konst.
Har också hört den historien förut, den är rätt skojig. Men en sak jag undrar över, hur uttalar man det, ska man säga why red som två separata ord eller bara whyred som ett ord?? Jag tycker alla säger olika..
Fast nu när jag tänker efter så säger man väl bara whyred som ett ord. Det känns liksom bäst för munnen..
